Heating and Cooling: Geo-Thermal

Below the earth's surface lay a vast source of energy that's not trillions and trillions of dead and decayed plant cells. This energy source is geothermal energy. When geothermal energy is thought of, it is usually in the sense of extremely, hyper-hot water flowing from geysers or through wells to power turbines and make electricity. Geothermal heat pumps, though relatively new on the market, are the residential, much shallower, equivalent using the earth's temperature gradients to heat and cool homes by either circulating a liquid heated, or cooled, by the gradient back through a distribution system.
